I am deeply troubled by National Grid’s consultation in which they propose building electricity pylons across Lincolnshire.
I do not believe National Grid has meaningfully discussed an offshore alternative. I feel Lincolnshire is therefore being treated unfairly in comparison to other areas in the UK. I am calling for National Grid to run an independent review of offshore options for Lincolnshire's East Coast as they have agreed for East Anglia.

National Grid is presenting their pylon scheme as a definite plan, so it is no wonder some people think there is no point trying to do anything about it.
But this is not true!
It is a proposal that National Grid have put forward, and there are many hoops for them to try and jump through over the next five years for it to be successfully granted permission by the Government.
One of the things they have to do is ask for our feedback as part of a consultation process.
Please make sure to submit your feedback before March 13th
National Grid proposed a similar scheme in Montgomeryshire and the campaign lead by people living in the area forced National Grid to abandon that proposal
In East Anglia, people have been fighting a similar National Grid pylons proposal for two years. Whilst their battle is ongoing they have had lots of success so far:
· The Government is itself funding a study to assess the viability of underground cables instead of the National Grids proposed pylons in Essex.

· Suffolk MP Dr Dan Poulter raised the issue at a meeting of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee and told reporters on January 24th 2024:
“The energy experts have told the Select Committee what we have known locally all along - that an offshore grid would be a cheaper, quicker and more effective way of transmitting the energy supply produced from offshore wind.” Read more HERE
In 2012 a similar proposal in this area was scrapped in favour of the Triton knoll project. Read more HERE
Victoria Atkins, Sir John Hayes and Matt Warman MPs, Lincolnshire County Council and many District, Town and Parish Councils have come together in objection of these proposals by National Grid

· Actor Ralph Fiennes has made a powerful video saying why he is against the pylons in East Anglia, including much that is relevant in Lincolnshire too.
